History of Food Technology Department

The Food Science and Technology Department was established in 1993 based on a Decree of the Establishment of the UMM FPP Study Program (SK) for the Region VII Private University Coordination (KOPERTIS WIL. VII) with the number: 118/DIKTI/Kep/1993 Date: 20 April 1993 under the name of the Study Program in Technology Outcomes Agriculture, Then in 2000 the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program - UMM obtained the status of "Accreditation" with a rating of "B" based on the Decree of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia National Higher Education Accreditation Agency Number: 028 / BAN-PT / Ak-IV / X / 2000 , on October 5, 2000 and in 2006 was accredited with the value "A" based on the Decree of BAN PT Number: 028 / BAN-PT / Ak-IX / S1 / 1/2006.

Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number: 163 / DIKTI / Kep / 2007 dated November 29, 2007, which was later strengthened by the Director General of Higher Education's Letter Number: 237 / D / T / 2010 dated March 1, 2010, the name of the UMM Agricultural Product Technology Study Program changed to the Food Science and Technology. Structurally the Study Program in Food Science and Technology is under the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry together with (i) the Agribusiness Study Program, (ii) the Forestry Study Program, (iii) the Agrotechnology Study Program, (iv) the Animal Husbandry Study Program and (v) Fisheries Study Program. In 2011 the ITP Study Program accreditation received a "B" score with BAN PT Decree No. 043 / BAN-PT / AK-XIII / S1 / I / 2011 which is valid until January 28, 2016. In 2012 the ITP study program operational permit was extended until March 8, 2017 with the Kopertis VII decision letter no. 13325 / D / T / K-VII / 2012. Finally, on 20 November 2016, the Food Science and Technology study program received an "A" accreditation status with BAN PT Decree no. 1159 / SK / BAN-PT / Akred / S / XI / 2015 which is valid until November 20, 2020

"Accreditation A" then continues to be maintained until now. Based on BAN-PT Decree No. 7667/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/S/XI/2020, states that the Food Technology Study Program, in the Undergraduate Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Malang City qualifies for "Accreditation A". Study program accreditation certificates are valid from 21 November 2020 to 21 November 2025. In 2022, the A accreditation for the UMM Food Technology study program had been converted to "Unggul" based on BAN-PT Decree No. 3202/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/S/V/2022.
