History of Food Technology Department

The Food Technology Department was originally named the Department of Agricultural Product Technology, which was established in 1993 based on the Letter of the Director General of Higher Education Number: 118/DIKTI/Kep/1993 on April 20, 1993. The Department of Agricultural Products Technology has one study program, namely the Agricultural Products Technology Study Program. In 2000 the Agricultural Products Technology Department, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (THP-UMM) was accredited with a "B" based on the Decree of BAN-PT Number: 028/BAN-PT/Ak-IV/X/2000 on October 5, 2000. In 2006, Agricultural Products Department has increase in accreditation status "A" obtained based on the Decree of BAN-PT Number: 028/BAN-DIKTI/Ak-IX/2006. Structurally, the Department of Agricultural Product Technology is under the Faculty of Agriculture.

In 2009, based on Decree No. 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007 the name of the Agricultural Products Department was changed to the Food Science and Technology Department under the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. The name transformation, which was also followed by a change in the relevant curriculum, was carried out to align the competence of the study program with the development of science, technology, and stakeholder needs.
